Privacy
Private fishing data
Fishtel treats exact saved fishing locations, GPS tracks, Fish Log entries, photos, gear, plans and personal fishing intelligence as account-private data. These records are scoped to the signed-in account and are not published to other anglers by default.
Aggregate sharing
The account preference for aggregate sharing is opt-in. Enabling it is intended for future de-identified product analytics and community intelligence; it does not authorize publication of an exact private waypoint.
Service and security records
Fishtel stores account, session, security/audit and operational records needed to provide and protect the service. Administrators can access operational account information required to support the beta. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, not plaintext.
Photos and location
Fish Log photos and location records can reveal sensitive fishing locations. Do not upload material you do not want associated with your private account. GPS access is requested only when you use location-dependent features.
Account deletion
Deleting an account removes active account records and active Fish Log photo files. Operational backups can retain deleted data until backup rotation expires; the packaged server backup policy currently rotates routine backups after about 30 days unless the operator changes that policy.
External services
Fishtel uses external data providers for weather, tides, charts, maps, regulations links and optional billing. Requests to those providers may reveal normal network metadata. Stripe processes payment information when billing is enabled; Fishtel does not need to store card numbers.
Beta limitation
This page documents the current beta implementation and is not a substitute for jurisdiction-specific legal counsel or a final production privacy policy.
